Apple Watch

Loyal Homeware User for over a year now. Great app! Do you plan to support the Apple watch? I just got one and would love to use it to run a scene when I get home or leave.

Thanks!

I’m looking into supporting the Watch! It’s early days though, and currently I am working on other things in preparation for a new release.

I have just been able with much tinkering, to in a sense…for $2.99 (and the cost of my time…) create an app using the Lu URL passes and an App called workflow which has a watch companion app. With it’s logic I can now…click a button it will ask me…

Lights On/Off?

Which Lights (provides a list).

Then executes the URL.

It was a bit of a bear to set up but it feels almost like a native app for this type of thing at this point. Here is the link to the workflow. I’m honestly not sure how to copy this for some one else.

Great idea @andlyleer !

I took a look at Workflow and created a workflow to run a vera scene from the Apple Watch… works great.

For anyone interested: After you install the Workflow app on your iPhone, click on this link on your iPhone to load the workflow into your Workflow app Shortcuts Then in the Text object change vera_ip to your vera’s IP and scene_number to the number of your scene.

This is Awesome!! I am by no means an IT expert, but I assume this only works while on the local network. It is possible to use the watch away from home?

If you are on UI5 you could probably use the remote url format in the Text object, but I don’t know if that exposes your Vera password to the Workflow app developer so I would not advise doing it.

Once HomeWave adds watch support I expect that would both work remotely and be secure.

Any updates on this? I’m hoping to run my House open scene from my watch when I pull up to the house. The workarounds look nice, but I would prefer direct support.

Thanks in advance!

Add me to the list. I just got an iWatch for Fathers Day and my Home Automation and Siri voice control are about the only things I can really see using on this watch for beyond the time. I’m sure I will find other uses for it my turning my lights and AC on and off with it would be ideal. Especially via voice.

Yes please.
i’ve got mine, and would love to get homewave sorted on it. Any testing needed, i’ll break it.

Just wanted to check in and see if you happen to get chance to look into this. Even a simple watch app that lets me run my scenes would be great! I’m basically using this when I am pulling up to my house to run My “Open House Scene” which opens my garage and turns off the alarm.

Dmitry has an app that also has Apple Watch functionality;

HomePal - for Vera by Dmitry Miller

Works like a charm (also external)

Any update on Apple Functionality with Homewave?

Not much, I’m bogged down by some other stuff. Like adding lock PIN management (which is more complex than it seems, and some bug fixes). Watch support is the next big addition on the list though.

@intveltr have you been able to make any headway on direct camera urls (at least to blue iris)? Thanks.

Hello!
I’m using the HomeWave 's Today widget on my iPhone.
I have a Garage Door Lock plugin. When i’m added this Door Lock to my today widget.
My problem is next:
In this Today widget anybody can Unlock and lock my Garage Door. No have PIN Lock safe.
This is a very dangereous!!
How can i’m using this Today widget?

For those that are wanting to use Siri on the Apple Watch to control Vera you can see a demo of it working here: Vera HomeKitBridge - YouTube.

I used the VeraHomeKitBridge on this thread: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,31716.360.html, you can get the repo from Hackworth’s github here: https://github.com/Hackworth/VeraHomeKitBridge and just follow the instruction on that page.

I installed it on an old Raspberry Pi B I had laying around, then installed Elgato Eve (free) on my iPhone and linked it to the VeraHomeKitBridge running on my Pi. After that Siri will work on your iPhone and Apple Watch. All the credit goes to Albeebe and Hackworth for their hard work.

Well done sir and thanks for sharing, I’ve done 90% of this already but your workflow is far simpler. Cheers!

Any updates on a watch app? I’ll buy one the day you make the app
