.407 solved the mystery of missing Alexa devices. They are back now, and I’m once again able to issue spoken or written phrases there. I notice that Alexa’s responses are sometimes SPOKEN OUT LOUD, however, even on a 100% muted phone, which is highly undesirable.
First six tests produced an oddly mixed bag:
tell me the time please ► It's 8:20 AM. (audible)
tell me the date ► (no response)
what is the date today ► [TIMEOUT warning] ► It's Tuesday, April 14. (silent)
tell me a joke ► <Short audio> (exactly that text, but silent since phone muted)
tell me the time please ► (no response)
what time is it ► It's 8:29 AM.
