Beta feedback Ezlo Plus

Issue #2 response. I am not sure what it was at the time but when I go to the app, it shows my controller online. When I go to the web UI, it still shows the controller offline. I believe I caused one of the crashes with the Aeon labs by retrying to pair or unpair before the time limit was up.

Issue #3 response. I didn’t check the led lights on the controller. They way I knew it crashed was the app closed. I restarted the app and it showed the controller offline. A very short time later, the app showed the controller back online.

Issue #5 response. This was in the IOS app

Issue #6 response. I have been using Vera since UI5 and the Vera 3. I knew what it meant to be in exclusion mode. I personally feel for a new user, especially if you haven’t used Zwave before, it would be unclear. That is why I am making the suggestions on changing the wording.

Issue #7 response. The app crashed and my phone went back to the home screen. I restarted the app, it showed the controller as being offline. A little while later, it showed the controller back online. I just checked it, the thermostat display still shows Fahrenheit but the app still shows the units of measurement in Celius. How so I change the app to shower Fahrenheit?

Issue #8 response. I just checked and it is still showing 0.0% humidity.

Issue #11 response. Same as above. App crashed, restarted app - app showed controller offline. A little while later it came back online.

FYI. The CT-100 units I am using do not have Zwave Plus modules. It is the older model.

FYI. All these devices were connected up to my Vera 3 and working. Controller 30001274. That same thermostat shows the temperature in Fahrenheit on the app instead of Celsius. Although, there is a typo. It says, “Fineside” in the app. Therefore, this is a new issue.

What is the FW version on your Ezlo Plus and version of mobile app?

Ezlo plus is not working with web UI.
Mobile app is the main UI for now.

Mine will live in a cupboard however. Please send me an EU one, I’m yet to get the Atom v2 working that arrived two days ago and I’m keen to do some testing.

How do I tell what version of the Ezlo Plus I am running and how do I update the firmware? There is no About for the IOS app so I went to the App store. It shows version 3.44 in the app store and my phone doesn’t show my app needs to be updated.

In addition, I found a bug in the app as far as users. All users have to be assigned to at least one controller. I wanted to delete a user from a controller and the only way I can do it is assign that user to another controller or delete that user.

In the IOS app under Settings—> Tech Support, you’ll find the app version. For the Atom and Edge running the new firmware, the version number will also be displayed.

I just tried to add another device to the Ezlo. It is currently paired to my Vera 3. It is GE light switch. I first went into adding a generic Z-wave device. The top of the screen in blue shows, “Adding new devices now…” I didn’t let it finish the full 60 seconds. I hit the retry button. Now what is strange. The first time I did this, the top of the screen in blue said, “Remove devices now…

I quit and retried adding the switch This time it showed a totally different Step 2. This time it says, “The controller will now begin the un-pairing process. (There is no indication that it is in the unpairing/exclusion mode. After about a minute, in blue, at the top of the screen, it say, "“The exclusion process stopped.”

Not only that, is it is confusing because the Step 2 in Pair your device is sometime unpairing and other times it is pairing. This is probably fine for a seasoned user but a new user is going to be confused. There really should be a screen that says we were unable to pair your device. We are now going to try unpairing it to see if this fixes the problem.

My playing around also confused my controller. I received this error.

I am definitely having some strange problems. Hopefully you can replicate it. Since I couldn’t add or delete the GE light switch, I moved the Ezlo Plus closer to the switch. Therefore I had to power it off. After moving it, I once again selected adding a Generic Zwave device. First it said, “Please wait”. Then I got an error a second time that said, “There was an error while setting the controller in include Mode. Please try again.” I then tried choosing adding a specific Light/Dimmer. This time it allowed me to go into pairing mode. I find this screen confusing. On top, it says in pairing mode. In writing over the picture, it says, “If the device isn’t selected within 60 seconds, click “retry” to being the unpairing process.” - First, it really is if a device isn’t found. As a user, I already selected it. Second, on top of the screen in blue, it say the controller is still in the pairing mode even after the counter has gone to zero. It appears to me that a new user would be less confused is after 60 seconds of pairing the screen changed and said that it couldn’t pair the device. Then tell you to hit a button to try unpairing it. The next bug happened when after I the Ezlo found my device. I tried to add the room, “Garage.” I received the error, “Sorry, something unexpected happened, please try again later.” I then tried a second type to create a room. This time it worked.

The Zigbee bulb that keeps showing ‘can’t detect device’ is now showing up twice on the devices page after the last time I re-connected it. I can delete and recreate the working device, but the buggy one is stuck and won’t go away when I try to unpair or delete it. When I try to delete the broken one the app actually deletes the working one! I tried power cycling the hub after deleting the working device and the broken one still is there and still can’t be deleted.

I’ve also had the hub lose connectivity with Google Assistant several times and had to power cycle it to get it to be controllable by G.A. again.

I had another bug today show up and you should be able to replicate it.

I was added a GE Zwave Plus light switch. (I can open the faceplate if you need the exact model number) This switch was paired with my Vera 3. I attempted to add it as a generic Zwave device. I waited the full 60 seconds. At the top of the screen it said, “The elusion process stopped.” I then selected Retry. I then clicked on trying adding again. The the app said, “There was an error while setting the controller in include Mode. Please try again.” I got a spinning “Please Wait” and then I received the error again. I went it this time and I tried adding a GE light switch and it let me proceed. I didn’t actually add it. I figure I will wait for a firmware update to test it further.

I set up a scene today to turn on two lights at Sunset. Neither of the two lights turned on at sunset. I then tried to run the scene manually and received the following error, “Error Sorry, something unexpected happened, please try again later"

So after finally receiving my EzloPlus after 46 days I could start testing this week.
My experiences so far

Remark: this info is very hidden, under Settings - Customer Care (Android app) or under Settings - Tech Support (iOs app)

Pairing
I used a micro USB adapter 5V/2A
Pairing went well , although in first instance it was not found on the network so I manually added it (entering SN and mac adress). After a couple of minutes it was OK
Remark: strange that you have to add it as a Vera Edge.

I can see Ezlo Plus amongst my list of Vera controllers.
Connect to EzloPlus in iOS app: fast !
Connect to EzloPlus in Android app: very slowwwwww !

Till now I added 4 zwave devices, 2 that are on the integration list and 2 that are not.
Everspring wall plug AN158: not on the list but pairing went fast. recognised as switch, although bulb icon . It works correctly and also the power measuring works OK. But in the beginning I saw “cannot connect to device” a couple of time. Distance to EzloPlus less than 2 m1 in same room. So that was not very encouraging. Past days it worked correct and stayed connected

NeoCoolcam Motion sensor NASPD01Z: on the list of integrated devices.
Pairing went fast. Motion sensor works OK although you cannot change any settings. Light Sensor also showed up. But it started with 28.0lux and now after 5 days it is still on 28.0lux. So this does not work properly.
Icon in Android app works different: when there is no motion anymore the “running man” remains red. In the iOS app the complete icon greys out as it should.

Philio Motion Sensor PSP05: on the list of integrated devices
Pairing did not go well, I had to try several times. The it showed up. But it was tripped and stays on tripped forever… So I excluded and included again: no change it always is on tripped.
Remark on exclusion: it goes fast but message is strange: “the exclusion process stopped” ???
So this one is not integrated well and is useless. You cannot check and change parameters yet…

Greenwave Powernode 6: not on the list of integrated devices.
Paring went very fast. I have 7 devices (main and 6 individual ports). Switching the individual ports goes well. You can also see power indicators Watts and Kwh but they remain on 0.0 always. That’s a pity because it is a fantastic device. On other popular zwave controllers energy measuring per port works. But on Vera this is a problem and it is mentioned several times on the (old) forum past years.

Scene
Created one scene till now : turn on a light when motion sensor trips (NeoCoolcam). This is similar to the existing Vera controllors although you cannot add Lua code.
It works and is fast, but till now very very basic.

Conclusions till now

Pairing devices usually goes fast and well, but not always even with devices that are on the integration list. Saw the “cannot detect device” just after starting test…

Finding devices is much faster because (finally) they are in alphabetic order (on Vera controllers this is still a big mess)

Scene functionality is working but very basic

Differences between apps:
iOS is very fast, also devices show up instantly. Android is very slow, you have to wait for more than 10 seconds before the devices (only 10) show up.
In iOs app I see battery level at the NeoCoolcam light sensor, in Android app not
Icons are sometimes different
Naming is sometimes different

Urgent improvements needed
I can still add a couple of more zwave devices I have laying around but then I’m done… Before I even consider moving some devices from my VeraPlus to the Ezlo plus first these improvements are essential:

  1. Be able to set parameters on devices

  2. Send simple one line http requests from Vera controllers to EzloPlus and the other way around. Please in a user friendly way. Not send a PDF with API that only a few plugin developers understand

  3. Android app should work way faster. Better: Web GUI so I can do everything on my desktop PC on big screen

For full switchover a lot more developments have to be made.
