Thanks to a suggestion by reneboer in the forum, added code to make the slider for window cover devices (blinds/awnings) fairly functional. To make use of the slider:
Window cover devices should now have a new variable MaxMoveTime. The value of this variable defaults to 10 seconds. It should be set to the time it takes for the blind/shade/awning to go from completely closed to completely open. Once that is set, moving the slider will hopefully command the blind to travel from its current position to the desired position (percentage of full travel) based on the percentage of the full travel time. It won’t be precise but should be a good approximation. I don’t have any motorized window covers with which to test this functionality properly. I hope that the users can provide feedback.
There are now additional Somfy/RTS devices. The idea is to have controls in the UI appropriate for different types of devices: US Venetian blinds, European Venetian blinds, Somfy and ASA awnings.
The plugin can now control light switches using the Lighting4 protocol. I believe there are a number of these available on Amazon. I’ve purchased two different brands of these switches (Denwenwils HRS101B and BN-LINK ES1513U-1) and can confirm that they work well and are pretty inexpensive.
To add devices like this follow these steps:
In the Protocol setting tab of the RFXtrx enable only the Lighting4 protocol. You don’t need to save this protocol setup permanently.
In the New device tab select the Lighting4 category, give it a name, and click Create.
Once the new device appears in the devices page of the Vera, using the remote that came with the switch, click the On button
Then click the Off button
Now you should be able to go to the Advanced tab of the new device, click the Variables tab. You should see the correct values for the OnCode, OffCode and SigPeriod variables. The default values for these variables are G, G, and 100. These are not valid values for the OnCode and Offcode and should now have been changed to the correct values. If they’ve been updated you should now be able to control the switch with the remote OR with the Vera UI for the device.
All of the plugin files are included in the attached ZIP file. The files that are new or have changed are:
Once you’ve unzipped the ZIP file, the files you need can be uploaded using the Vera → Apps → Develop apps → Luup files → upload. Keep in mind that icon files (.png) cannot be uploaded this way. The easiest way to upload them is to use WinSCP to upload them to /www/cmh/skins/default/icons/
first of all thanks for your ongoing and great work with the RFXtrx plugin.
I was just setting up a new controller (Veraplus) as a Test System, did a factory reset and upgraded to 7.31 and created a RFXtrx Device using the 1.94 Files. On the RFXtrx433XL is 1041. By clicking on the protocol settings I am getting the following error.
Error executing function RFX_showProtocols(): undefined is not an object (evaluating ‘firmwareType.substr’)
I am sure you have an idea what goes wrong. I have a production system on 7.31 with 1.87 and 1041 which runs without problems, so it could be in a 1.94 file.
In the meanwhile I will upgrade the RFXtrx433XL to 1042.
I had installed beta 3 a few years ago because I want to use this with RFXCom. I had 4 somfy blind motors connected to the plug-in (category : RFY; unit code 1). It works great. Now I want to connect another blind motor to Vera, but I can’t do that. I have made a new device and click on create button and it says “Vera Will reload to validate the changes…” but nothing happens.
You post an update (version 1.94) on the Vera community. When downloading the files and uploaded in Vera. The 4 somfy blinds do not work with the new version.
Maybe you can help to fix the problem. I want to use the exisiting 4 somfy blinds and I want to connect antoher somfy blindmotor.
that error message looks like a random thing or that the Vera Plus is busy for a while. After going for a cup of coffee the error is gone, but are you sure that is version 1.94? I see the files with a creation date in 2020 but when I go to RFXtrx device/help I stil see 1.87.
I downloaded the zip and dropped the files Apps/develop Apps/Luupfiles upload. I even restarted the vera plus, but it still says 1.87.
Do you have a hint for us how did you overcome that write protection??? I use the user root and PWD from the bottom of my Veraplus.
scp: /www/cmh/skins/default/img/icons/RFXtrx433E.png: Read-only file system
a) the method Apps/develop apps/luup (upload) shows that its done, but does not overwrite the existing files
b) using winscp it overwrites the files with the correct 1.94 ones
c) the Vera is damned slow in reading these files and showing the right protocols and Versions. In my case it did like 10-20 mins
d) I cannot write to the icon path with my login credentials
Anybody else that experience with Veraplus 7.31 and RFXtrx433XL (1042 + 1041) and RFXtrx plugin with 1.87 and 1.94 ? and yes I even powered vera off for some minutes without affecting this
Just something to look into: the uploader at Apps > Develop apps > Luup files installs the files compressed (with .lzo suffix). If there are both compressed and uncompressed plugin files, however, the system will favor the uncompressed. So if you previously copied files up without compression (via scp, for example), you would have both, with potentially confusing results. Check the contents of /etc/cmh-ludl via ssh.
@Edwin1972 If what you’ve posted is what you’re seeing when attempting to create a new device, then you’re not running the latest version of the plugin files. The drop down should show this:
Also, have you updated from the beta 3 version directly to version 1.94? If so, the altid for Somfy blinds has changed. If you go to your existing Somfy blinds, select the Advanced tab and then look at Variables, and look at the altid value. It probably starts with WC/RFY. Previously the altid began with WC/RFY/xxxxx/nn It should now begin with WC/RFY.?/xxxxx/nn The RFY.? should be RFY.0 or RFY.3 or RFY.8 or RFY.9. Set the proper one for your Somfy devices according to:
I am still running version 1.7.4903 on my VP. In light of all the issues that have popped up I’m waiting for the next version which has been promised for this week.
I upload Plugin Update V1.87 to my VeraPLus. With version 1.87 I can add new somfy devices but the old devices doesn’t work. I have removed all my window covers and recreated and paired new devices one by one. It works perfect!
Hello Evel,
“Error executing function RFX_showProtocols(): Cannot read property ‘substr’ of undefined”
Did you find a solution ? I have exactly the same error and could not find a solution (i run plug-in 1.96), also looking at the forum nothing appear in reply to your question. Kind regards
Hi Denis,
In My case, I upgraded to the last Version of Veraplus and copied the files according Rigpapa‘s suggestion with winscp and path. The path for the png (image) was the wrong path. if the folder, Tinman told us does not exist, create one.
Then it worked for me after a reboot.
regards
Michael
I had a very old version (PLUG IN 1.0).
Then I updated to Trunk158 it did not work. I found the 1.96, updated to 1.96 using Vera UI → Apps → Develop Apps → Upload, did not work (same issue RFX_showProtocols()…). So I tried with WinSCP and copied the files uncompressed and removed all compressed files to avoid any mismatch. And at the end I removed again everything and uploaded using Vera UI → Apps → Develop Apps → Upload. So in theory I should have a clean 1.96 update in /etc/cmh-ludl/
Below the content of cmh-ludl in cases something is missing.
Thanks a lot for your help
