No you don’t need to clone the the network to use the uzb-zway. You can just add the uzb as a secondary controller: On the vera proceed as if you were just adding another device. On z-way, there is actually an action to add the uzb to an existing network. (in zwave it is called putting the controller in learning mode)
I had to do exactly the same. Support was straight forward about it though and pointed out the specifics to why it didn’t make it over. My inner geek was forced to nod in agreement as it all made perfect sense. The two platforms just don’t speak well with each other when it comes to the information crossing over. I was able to save my devices though vs going from device to device. I just had to rebuild everything else if I remember right.
