Support on VeraPlus for Axis Gear?

Hi guys,

can anyone confirm whether the https://www.helloaxis.com/ are working with Vera models? I’m based in the UK, and the version of z-wave they are using, is for US markets, so would need to connect via zigbee. They support Zigbee HA 1.2.

Thanks
Tony

Hello,

The zigbee devices which are working with our controllers are the ones from our compatibly list:

https://getvera.com/compatibility/

We have made a request to our development team to work on the integration of Axis Gear ( zigbee version ).

Thank you and Have a nice day

Thanks Cristina.

AXIS Gear is working successfully on my VERA PLUS. There were a few tweaks but it works. Every now and then it looses connection, but generally works.

Hi,

is that using Zigbee version or z-wave? if the latter, then they don’t plan to release a z-wave version for the UK for sometime, when i asked a year or two back.

Thanks
Tony

Hi,

just wondering if you were using the US Z-wave version, or the zigbee version?

Thanks
Tony

Zigbee version. Works pretty good… I don’t think they have a Zwave Axis.

Thanks, that’s great to hear!

Any update on official integration with vera with Axis Gear? Thanking you in advance.

HI,
I have vera plus… try to connect Axis gear but Vera cannot find it (as a generic zigbee device)
can you guide me pls

Thanks

Bashar

Sorry for late response, this is what AXIS recommended:

Thank you for taking the time to speak to us today. I am sending you the instructions for connecting with Vera hub to keep for your records.

Prerequisites

Vera Home account connected with configured Vera hub

Will only join to VeraPlus or VeraSecure hubs. Will not work with VeraEdge because it does not support ZigBee communications

Device is configured and put into SmartHome mode

NOTE : This is a preliminary integration. We may have some power consumption issues due to requirement of constantly responding to the device

Join Gear to System

Login to Vera account through a web browser and connect to the desired hub

you will not be able to enable the network or add a device through the VeraMobile App

Select Devices in the main menu located on the left of the browser window

Click Add Device and select the Generic ZigBee Device option

In Step 1 and Step 2, click Next to enable ZigBee pairing

At this point, here should be a countdown from 60s displayed on the browser as well as the ZigBee LED blinking to indicate it is ready to pair devices

If the ZigBee LED does not blink, please contact Vera Support

Press the Pair button on the Gear. After pairing is complete, Gear’s Touch Strip will flash Green twice.

In Step 3, rename your device and assign a room for the device and click Finish

In the default configuration, the Vera hub will only initiate commands to fully open and close your shades

Modifying Device Type for Added Functionality

Select Devices in the main menu located on the left of the browser window

Click on the > (right arrow) beside your Gear and go to Advanced

Change the following parameters, which will automatically be applied. NOTE: may have to refresh page or app to see changes

device_file = D_DimmableLight1.xml

device_json = D_DimmableLight1.json

Category = 2

Subcategory = 1

Gear will now respond to the following:

On Command = Fully Open

Off Command = Fully Closed

Slider = Desired Position

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Thanks Nutshellml, I got my Axis Gear working with your instructions yesterday and and far so good.

It’s a shame we cant use Category 8 & SubCat 1 for windows shades.

EDIT: I had issues with mine falling off the network despite my mesh being healthy - I solved this with the following tweaks:

Advanced / Variables:
PollEnabled = 1

Settings:
Poll this node = 300 seconds (5 Mins)

Any chance Vera could just cheat and use the info Axis provided for SmartThings?

Hubitat also has support for Axis gear now!
