Wi-Fi enabled robotic vacuum

I am really not thrilled there isn’t a robotic vaccum we can control from VERA. Would love to be able to start a cleaning when the alarm was enabled “away”.

This is a new entrant, but the broken English isn’t very reassuring. No reviews anywhere yet.

I would love a Neato with wi-fi. I am upset that their new products are the same as their old products with a new color scheme.

If you have not done so already, search the forum for roomba.

There isn’t anything working. I see the third-party RooWifi and work towards a plug-in. And some IR starting of Roomba models equipped with a remote, but I can’t use VERA to send IR from my Logitech Blasters (Harmony 890 Pros with zwave) and don’t really want IR unless nothing else is available.

Roombas just take more time to maintain than they save by vacuuming. Neato’s pretty much just need to be emptied and run great. I am likely to recycle my last Roomba tonight if I cannot get it running again. Meanwhile the Neato works great - just only on its internal scheduler…

I own a neato and prefer it over the roomba. But the roomba is the only device I know that has wifi capabilities.

@garrettwp
Not so fast … neato has a USB interface and can be controlled from it.

See:
http://www.neatorobotics.com/programmers-manual/
Someone just needs to develop a remote interface (Wifi, BlueTooth, Arduino, Spark, …) and interface that to the USB port on neato … then of course do the Plugin.

Seems this community won’t be happy until toilet flushers, coffee makers, automatic cat litter cleaners, and one’s hot water tank get integrated!!

and one's hot water tank get integrated!

Actually I am a happy man … I have a very sophisticated water system, which includes Hot Water. I live on rain water in drought riddled Texas … Water is a more critical resource than electricity!

Aye, I bet. I’ve spent time in Arizona, and I understand that world.

I live in eastern Ontario however. Rain can be a problem, and so sump pump monitors and water level sensors are king here

i’ll opt for the auto cat-litter cleaner and coffeemaker !
can’t find any description or docs for the interface in the backside of the door from my philips xelsis. it would allready be z-waved if there is any option to do it ^^
i was also looking into the robot-cleaners … specially this irobot stuff. but it lacks remote control :frowning:
now i was thinking using this : http://www.robomop.nl/ with this : http://www.gosphero.com/
just needs some programming a plugin.

So long as your auto-cat litter / coffee maker hybrid machine doesn’t mess up. Cat litter flavoured coffee does not sound appetizing.

both separate i mean offcourse lol
looking around i found the i-clebo http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/8/prweb11055821.htm really nice it also wet-mobs the floor.
dyson are going to make a wifi enabled one and also samsung has one.
i would like to stream the video of the camera and be able to steer it around just for fun. :=D

I have been dreamin of getting a Neato to some day and remote controll does not seem imposible:

I do have a Litter Robot. Only connection to VERA is the z-wave electric outlet so I can reset it if it gets stuck.

And yes, like RTS (who gave me the idea) I have a hot-water re-circulator pump connected to VERA via a z-wave electric outlet and I automatically pre-heat the water at two sinks both via a schedule and via a trigger (Yale z-wave deadbolt opens - heat the water in the bathroom).

The Litter Robot rocks  Does yours get stuck often? Mine works well, I’ve never considered hooking it up to Vera. The Pet Porte cat flap is another matter, I’d like to get a status update if the cat goes in or out, and the ability to lock the flap remotely. No luck with that so far, though.

i was thinking about that too… cat status update can be done with a magnetic collar and a doorsensor on the flap. i just found the doorlock for the flap too expensive to try this out but i guess it would work also.

I’m not a fan of collars, they are potentially unsafe. Better to get your cat chipped, and use the PetPorte, Sureflap or similar. They read the ID chips and will unlock for your cats only  And I just figured out how to hook this up to Vera to detect a cat going in or out (although I’m not able to detect which cat is leaving)

without a collar you can put the doorsensor still on the flap and one on the flapholder i guess. personnaly i dont fancy getting my cat chipped and walking around with a collar or whatever option to put something on it what doesn’t belong there. i have just one cat that opens the rear-door by itself and so is tripping the backdoor-sensor which in turn turns on the light so i can see when its going in or out. she allways comes back even when im out for a whole day so im not that worried

I also would love to be able to control my coffeemaker by vera, as seen in the movie by Fibaro

@Thiemen - According to the video, they use/recommend a 1.5kw relay for the coffee maker. It would work great for an old coffee maker. But, if you had a modern digital one, like the one in the video, the relay will cause the clock to be reset and any programming in the coffee maker is unlikely to work. But, you could probably rig something up.

The video also shows, “warming meals”. Specifically, it shows the oven coming on. Similar to the coffee maker above, this supposedly uses a 3kw relay, but again digital clocks and programming will fail. Also, is 3kw enough for an oven?

The car pulls up to the gate and utilizes a “car module”. Sounds great! It’s a shame that they have no such module. Though you could use your phone and a geofence app.

The video is extremely attractive and compelling, but it is rather fanciful.

well you could alter your coffeemachine with a duo-relay 1.5kw and put this inbetween the button you press for making coffee on the machine. but you would need a full-automatic one as otherwise you have to put coffee in it and water every new cup coffee you make.
machines like i have do have dont work as it has a touchscreen on it, but there is a serial interface on the back of the door that could be used to connect to the vera someway. but i cannot find any docs on it :frowning:
the car module is also allready being done and this would work if you put a fibaro universal sensor in the car.
3KW is more then enough for most modern ovens as these use 1.2-2.8 kW. i use one for my washingmachine and dryer , did not fail yet and its in use for half a year now.
