IKEA Smart Light

IKEA just released smart lights: Smart belysning & lampor – Styr med app & Wifi - IKEA (in Swedish). Site does not state what protocol it uses, but I’ve heard a rumor that its ZigBee. Will be interesting to see.

It is ZigBee (not Z-wave, how sad isn’t that?)

I just read the news, it is ZigBee and Vera controller supports it.
I will try it, is very cheap and convenient.

I have also look these Lights with great interest. Let us know if you get them paired with vera.

Some info from a swedish site:

More info

Lights support ZigBee Light Link Standard? http://www.zigbee.org/zigbee-for-developers/applicationstandards/zigbee-light-link/ Any chance to control them with vera?

Ikea are definitely rolling this out widely - now front page on their Swiss site.

@MCV - this would be a good opportunity to show your responsiveness, and add some really significant use to the ZigBee part of Vera Plus…

Please make the Vera work with IKEA lights. This may be a game changer for home automation - at least for lights. IKEA will sell this at very competitive prices. If I was a controller vendor, then I would ensure to be compliant with these. It will be interesting to see what this will means for z-wave.
I was just going to buy an Vera Plus, but will wait and see which controllers will work with these IKEA lights.

Did you have any luck with this?

From what I have read, the Wink/Wink2 hubs connect well with ZigBee devices and bridge to Vera very well. I have not heard that Vera works well directly with ZigBee devices.

I just received a bulb, but can’t connect it directly to the Vera…

It is possible, but very unstable.

See this link (translate it from swedish):

Thank you for the link. The the real issue is in the comments:

Vera Supporten:
Please know that Ikea lights are on the ZigBee Light Link protocol while Vera is on the ZigBee Home Automation protocol. The different protocols are not inter-compatible. …

Dam … I would really want those 15-20 eur zigbee lights connected to my vera.

From what I have read, Wink | Wink Hub 2 works well including ZigBee: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,48413.msg318476.html#msg318476

Found this on Ikea lights security

Just saw this

Vera Plus connected to an Ikea bulb. Sound like he just paired it with Vera as a generic Zigbee device.

I only have a Vera Edge though. Maybe these Ikea bulbs might work on the Philips Hue bridge and the Hue plugin for Vera instead?

I tried to connect an Ikea’s bulbs to my Vera and it doesnt work(Zigbee generic device).
I have Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant and it works with Ikea hub pretty well.
Finally from Vera you can control your light by HTTP request but you need Ikea hub and Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant.

os.execute [[curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d " { \"entity_id\":\"light.entrance_bulb\" }" http://192.168.0.100:8123/api/services/light/turn_on]]

I haven’t been able to get this to work with Vera Plus.
I followed this on-line guide: IKEA lanserar smart belysning "Trådfri LED"! | Tips för ett smartare hem
This makes my Vera Plus to see the Ikea light, but it fails to configure.
I define it as the generic Zigbee device.
After pairing, the light is on, but no way to turn it off using the VeraPlus UI7
So for me it’s not worth investing in any more Ikea lamps. (They also get surprisingly hot.)
They may be cheap, but clearly not open.

If someone has gotten this to work, including dimming and color tones, please let me know.

some users reported that it works with the ALTHue plugin using the Tadfridi lights in Hue compatible mode. Pair them with the Hue app on your mobile, then ALTHue plugin will give you control to it for action and scenes from vera.

Mildly confused. Does the altHUE need to

control the ikea tradfri lights via a HUE gateway or is the HUE gateway redundant
