Poll Setting for extending door lock batteries

My locks seem to smash battery life and thought i had adjusted the right settings, but seeking expert advice. (UI7)

Can someone advise:

  • In adv device setting “params” tab there is a “poll” box with a long string of numbers What does this do?
  • In adv device setting “variables” there are a who lot of poll settings, i changed “pollsetting” to a large number thinking this would reduce frequency of polling (216000 - 10 hours?)

Do i need to change anything else on this page?

Setting the Poll Setting variable to a high value can increase the battery life time. However, it is recommended to be at the default setting.

The poll settings are in seconds. Some Vera releases defaulted the locks to every two minutes (120 seconds), which would then exhaust the battery in a manner of weeks.

I actually turned my polling off (setting it to 0 (zero)). Now my batteries on my motorized Schlage deadbolt last almost a year.
