What is the best way to spot a Plugin/App that won't work

This is week one with Vera so please excuse possibly stupid question.

I have installed a few plugins that I just can’t them to do anything - specifically Battery Monitor.

Looks like it could be extremely useful but I cannot get it to do anything.

I suspect it might be a problem with Vera Version - ie doesn’t work with v17 of Vera?

Is there anyway of knowing in advance it is incompatible - failing the obvious one, which i haven’t spotted yet - is DOESN’T WORK with 17.

Is there a rule of thumb, if it has not been updated in 12 months won’t work?

I would appreciate any guidance to avoid so many cul de sacs,

Thanks

I think that the generic answer is “no”, there’s no way to know…

…however, the forum is a useful resource. I would recommend checking for a topic on the plugin(s) in question. If there’s not an active topic, then it may not work. Some very old plugins work just fine.

Some plugins are ALWAYS worth avoiding. Vera’s own Ergy is one such - no end of problems it has caused.

Sorry it’s not better answer.

What @akbooer says. Also, keep in mind each plug-in takes storage resources on Vera, which are limited. If you haven’t yet loaded ALTUI, let suggest that you do as it is the Swiss Army knife for Vera and gives a deeper view into the system.

Thanks guys

I am looking for Vera to only do two things Heating and Hot Water.

I’ll do everything else elsewhere…
